At around 10 a.m. on April 15, 2006, Lien Chan and his delegation arrived at Biyun Temple and entered the Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Memorial Hall. Lien Chan presented a yellow garland to the white marble full-body statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen in the center of the memorial hall, led all members in bowing three times, and observed a minute of silence. Subsequently, Lien Chan and his delegation inspected a white marble stele inscribed with Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s farewell letter to the Soviet Union, embedded on the left and right walls, as well as Dr. Sun’s autograph writings and literary remains displayed in the hall, and watched the documentary “The State Funeral Ceremony of Dr. Sun Yat-sen.” After the visit, Lien Chan wrote the words: “The green hills are blessed to accompany Dr. Sun; we comrades have no excuse to forget his lofty aspirations,” expressing his reverence. After leaving the memorial hall, Lien Chan and his delegation walked up the steps, bowed three times before Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Cenotaph, and planted a lacebark pine. Subsequently, Lien Chan delivered remarks. He said, “Today we come to Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Cenotaph at Biyun Temple to pay our respects to him with the utmost reverence and commemorate his great deeds.”
